FAQ

What is a Third Party Logistics (3PL) company?

A third party logistics (3PL) company is one that provides outsourced ocean container or air freight from other countries, warehouse storage, order fulfillment, transloading and cross-docking, domestic transportation/shipping via TL (Truck Load), LTL (Less-than-Truck Load) and Small Parcel. 3PL companies can also manage order packaging, provide re-labeling, re-palletize, handle and manage returns, track inventory and be a valuable e-commerce partner.

Why have other companies selected Mega Logistic as their 3PL Supply Chain Partner?

1. Mega Logistic operates a 325,000 square ft ambient Grade A warehouse facility. Our facility offers over 20,000 pallet spaces (both rack and floor space) for our customers with 45 dock spaces to efficiently load/unload containers    2. We are located in the City of Industry only 31 miles from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach and centrally located to many of the local Amazon, Walmart, Target and Costco Distribution Centers in the West Coast 3. Mega Logistic is an AIB Certified Food Distributor with a consistent commitment to GMP Best Practices. We also cater to the needs of accounts: large or small, 50 years old or just starting up.

What is the difference between "Asset Based" and "Non-Asset Based" 3PL Freight/Transportation companies?

Generally speaking, "Asset Based" companies own their equipment (trucks and trailers) and they employ the drivers that operate them "Non-Asset Based" companies offer many or all of the services of their "Asset Based" competitors but they do NOT own their own equipment. They usually leverage networks and affiliated vendor partners. Mega Logistic offers customers both of the above options.

What are the first steps to switching from my current 3PL to another like Mega Logistic?

First, you need to identify the "must have" items you require (minimum requirements for warehouse space, technology integration, service levels, etc) so you can answer an RFQ (Request for Quote) Questionnaire from a new 3PL and provide valuable data (like SKUs, photos of product, etc) .

Then, you need to confirm the terms of your current contract including notice periods and termination clauses so you can set an ideal new starting date (usually 3-6 months from the start of the evaluation)

Then, depending on each 3PL, the new prospective 3PL will schedule: (1) an Introduction Call, (2) a second Discovery and Data Exchange Call to complete your Profile, (3) Tour of Facility, (4) Submission of Quote, Negotiation of Rates and Services and then signing of a formal Contractual Agreement. Your 3PL Business Development or Sales Contact will lead you through it.
